Showing future olim the career before they commit to the country

Most people considering aliyah are rightfully concerned about how they'd make a living in their new home. Nefesh B'Nefesh brought us in to film its high-tech networking event in Tel Aviv, so prospective olim at Aliyah Fairs across North America could see the industry, and the people already working in it, from the inside.

Challenge

People weighing aliyah are usually sold on the idea and stalled on the economics. They can't picture a career for themselves in an unfamiliar country.

NBN's Tel Aviv high-tech event answered that question in person — but the audience who most needed the answer was in New York, Los Angeles, Montreal, and Toronto.

How do you make a career in an unfamiliar country feel achievable — without asking people to take your word for it?

Process

The obvious film was a survey of the sector. We went after what the speakers had in common instead: they came from unrelated fields but shared a conviction that their work could matter.

That became the film's actual argument — not that Israeli high tech is exciting, but that the people building it believe their work counts, and there's room in it for you.

We cut the speakers' strongest lines against candid footage of the room: hundreds of people mid-conversation who had already made the move and were visibly glad they had. The persuasion came from the audience, not the stage.

Alongside the main film, we produced complete presentations from every speaker, making the full experience available to anyone who wanted more than the highlights.

Results

The film became the lead asset for the North American fairs — used in the run-up to each event and shown to the attendees themselves.

Registrations across the events rose 30%, and the largest fair drew more than 2,000 prospective olim.

NBN ran it on multiple event landing pages, which took in over 23,000 views; the film itself was watched more than 22,000 times across social platforms.

"The reaction to both the quality and content of the video was excellent. It allowed us to showcase the energy and excitement of the event in a beautiful, clear, interactive and shareable format."

WHEN THIS APPROACH MAKES SENSE
01When you're already running live events and want more out of them than the night itself
02When the decision you're asking for is big enough that people need to picture themselves in it first
03When the experience is more persuasive than anything you could say about it
